Skin Lesion Clinic

Our nurse-led Cosmetic Skin Lesion Service provides professional assessment and treatment of a range of suitable benign skin lesions using different treatment methods depending on the type, size, location and characteristics of the lesion.

Rather than offering one method of lesion removal, we assess each concern individually and recommend the most appropriate treatment pathway.

Lesions We Are Able to Treat

Following assessment, treatment may be suitable for concerns including:

  • Skin tags
  • Milia
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Seborrhoeic keratoses
  • Suitable benign pigmentation
  • Small benign vascular lesions
  • Warts
  • Verrucae
  • Other suitable benign superficial skin lesions

Not every lesion is suitable for cosmetic treatment and assessment will always take place before removal.

Safety comes first with all of our skin lesion treatments.

Any mole or pigmented lesion being considered for cosmetic removal will be assessed beforehand. We will not cosmetically treat lesions that appear suspicious, have concerning features or require further investigation.

If an area needs additional medical or dermatology assessment, we will explain this and appropriately signpost or refer you for further review before cosmetic treatment is considered.

Our aim is to give you a clear, professional pathway from initial assessment through to specialist review or cosmetic treatment where appropriate.

CryoPen uses highly targeted cryotherapy to freeze suitable unwanted skin lesions while minimising exposure of the surrounding healthy tissue.

It may be suitable for a number of superficial benign lesions and allows precise treatment of relatively small areas.

Advanced diathermy uses controlled electrical energy to treat selected superficial skin lesions.

Depending on assessment, it may be particularly useful for concerns such as skin tags, milia, cherry angiomas and selected superficial vascular or benign lesions.

The treatment method chosen will depend upon the individual lesion and its location.

Milia are small, firm, keratin-filled cysts that commonly occur around the eyes, cheeks and other areas of the face.

Where appropriate, these can be professionally treated using a technique selected according to the size and location of the milia.

Cherry angiomas are small red vascular lesions that commonly develop on the face and body and tend to become more numerous with age.

Suitable cherry angiomas may be treated cosmetically following assessment, with the treatment method selected according to their size and location.

Safety is central to our lesion service.

Moles and pigmented lesions will not simply be removed cosmetically without appropriate assessment.

If you have a mole or pigmented lesion that is new, changing, unusual or causing concern, we can provide a professional clinical assessment before deciding what should happen next.

Where clinically appropriate, we also offer access to Map My Mole.

High-quality images of suitable moles or pigmented lesions can be submitted for specialist dermatology reporting, providing an additional level of assessment where required.

If during assessment a lesion has suspicious or concerning characteristics, we will not proceed with cosmetic removal.

You will be advised about the appropriate next step and, where required, directed or referred for further medical or specialist dermatology assessment.

This provides a clear pathway from initial assessment through to specialist review or cosmetic treatment where appropriate.

Every lesion is different.

During your consultation we will assess the lesion, discuss how long it has been present, whether you have noticed any changes or symptoms and determine whether cosmetic treatment is appropriate.

We will then explain the most suitable treatment method, expected outcome, potential risks, aftercare and whether more than one treatment may be required.

Our approach combines cosmetic lesion treatment with professional clinical assessment so that patient safety always comes before removal.
