What is CryoPen?
CryoPen is a precision cryotherapy device used to freeze selected superficial skin lesions. At SR Integrated Health & Wellness, we offer CryoPen O+ as one option within our nurse-led Skin Lesion Clinic.
The right method depends on the lesion. Your consultation comes first, so we can discuss whether CryoPen, another approach or further medical assessment is appropriate.
What can it treat?
Following assessment, CryoPen may be considered for selected skin tags, warts, verrucae, seborrhoeic keratoses and suitable benign pigmentation. Suitability depends on the type, size and location of the lesion, your skin and your medical history.
A pigmented mark should not simply be frozen because it is unwanted. Uncertain or concerning lesions require appropriate medical review.
Your appointment
- Assess: we review your concern and the relevant history.
- Discuss: we explain the proposed method, alternatives, risks, likely healing and costs before you decide.
- Plan: if treatment is appropriate and you consent, we agree the next steps and aftercare.
Bring details of any previous treatment and changes you have noticed. Tell us about medication, allergies and any health conditions that may affect treatment or healing.
What does it feel like?
Freezing can cause stinging or discomfort. Sensitivity varies with the area being treated. We will explain what to expect and give you the opportunity to ask questions before proceeding.
Recovery and aftercare
Redness, swelling, blistering or crusting may follow treatment. Healing varies; skin colour changes and scarring are possible. Follow your individual aftercare instructions, keep the area clean and avoid picking or removing crusts.
Contact the clinic if healing concerns you. Seek medical advice if you develop increasing pain, spreading redness, discharge or feel unwell.
Frequently asked questions
Will one treatment be enough?
Some lesions need repeat treatment. We review the response rather than promise clearance in a fixed number of sessions.
Will it leave a mark?
There is a risk of scarring or changes in pigmentation. We discuss this with you before treatment, including the implications for your skin tone.
Can I have a mole frozen?
Moles and other pigmented lesions need careful assessment. This service is not a blanket offer of cosmetic mole removal. See our mole assessment information below.
