Dermal Fillers & Facial Rejuvenation
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore volume, enhance facial proportions, support facial structure and soften some of the visible changes associated with ageing.
At SR Integrated Health & Wellness Clinic, our approach is centred around facial assessment rather than simply treating an isolated line or area.
Faces naturally change over time. Changes in skin quality, fat distribution, bone structure and soft-tissue support can all influence facial shape and appearance. Carefully placed dermal filler can help restore balance and support while maintaining natural movement and individual facial characteristics.
Our aim is not to change the way you look — it is to achieve subtle, proportionate results that work with your existing features.
What Can Dermal Fillers Be Used For?
Following assessment, dermal filler may be considered for:
- Lip enhancement and definition
- Loss of facial volume
- Cheek enhancement and support
- Chin projection and contour
- Jawline definition
- Lower-face support
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Facial asymmetry
- Age-related changes in facial structure
- Overall facial balancing and rejuvenation
Not every concern requires filler, and sometimes another treatment may provide a more appropriate result.
Full-Face Assessment
A successful result is about more than the amount of filler used.
Before treatment, we assess the face as a whole, considering facial proportions, profile, symmetry, movement, volume distribution and the relationship between different facial areas.
For example, treating the lower face in isolation may not always address the underlying cause of a concern. Restoring appropriate support elsewhere can sometimes produce a more balanced result.
Your treatment plan will therefore be based on your individual anatomy rather than trends or a standardised approach.
Lip Enhancement
Lip filler can be used to enhance shape, definition, proportion and volume.
Treatment does not necessarily mean creating larger lips. For some patients, the goal may simply be improving border definition, restoring age-related volume loss, addressing asymmetry or creating better balance between the upper and lower lip.
The amount and placement of product are individually planned according to your anatomy and desired outcome.
Cheeks & Mid-Face
Ageing can lead to changes in volume and structural support through the mid-face.
Carefully placed dermal filler can restore selected areas of volume, enhance cheek contour and provide additional support to surrounding tissues.
The aim is to restore proportion rather than create excessive or unnatural-looking volume.
Chin & Jawline
Dermal filler can be used strategically to improve chin projection, facial proportions and jawline definition in suitable patients.
Assessment of the profile and relationship between the chin, lips, nose and jaw allows us to plan treatment that complements the face as a whole.
Lower-Face Rejuvenation
Dermal filler may also be used to soften selected folds and restore support within the lower face.
This can include nasolabial folds and marionette areas, although directly filling a line is not always the most appropriate approach.
We assess why the fold or shadow has developed before deciding where treatment should be placed.
What Happens During Treatment?
Your appointment begins with consultation and facial assessment.
We will discuss your concerns, desired outcome, medical history, previous aesthetic treatments and whether dermal filler is appropriate for you.
The treatment area is cleansed and the product is carefully placed using a needle or cannula depending on the area being treated and the technique required.
Most modern hyaluronic-acid fillers contain local anaesthetic, and additional comfort measures may be used where appropriate.
What Should I Expect Afterwards?
Temporary effects following dermal filler are common and can include:
- Swelling
- Redness
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Temporary asymmetry caused by swelling
Some areas, particularly the lips, can swell more noticeably during the first few days.
The initial result can be seen immediately, but the final appearance should be assessed after swelling has reduced and the tissues have settled.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Longevity varies considerably.
It depends on the product used, treatment area, amount placed, individual metabolism, facial movement and other biological factors.
Dermal fillers are temporary treatments and maintenance may be required if you wish to retain the result.
We will discuss realistic expectations and an appropriate review or maintenance plan during your consultation.
Safety & Clinical Assessment
Dermal filler is a medical aesthetic procedure and, although complications are uncommon, treatment is not without risk.
Possible complications range from temporary swelling and bruising to infection, inflammatory reactions, nodules and, rarely, vascular complications.
Understanding facial anatomy, recognising complications and having appropriate emergency pathways are therefore essential parts of safe treatment.
We will discuss relevant risks, benefits and alternatives with you before you consent to treatment.
Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
We primarily use carefully selected hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally present within the body and is widely used in injectable aesthetic treatments.
Different products have different characteristics, so the filler selected will depend on the area being treated and what we are trying to achieve.
Where clinically indicated, hyaluronic-acid filler can also be dissolved using hyaluronidase.
Natural Results, Not Trends
Aesthetic treatments should enhance rather than overwhelm your individual features.
We do not believe that everyone needs the same lips, cheeks or jawline.
Our approach is conservative and anatomy-led, with treatment recommendations based on what is appropriate for your face, your goals and your long-term treatment plan.
Not Sure What You Need?
You do not need to book knowing exactly which area or amount of filler you require.
If you are considering facial rejuvenation, we can assess your concerns and discuss all appropriate options.
In some cases this may involve dermal filler. In others, improving skin quality, treating muscle activity or using another technology may be more appropriate.
The starting point is understanding what you would like to improve and creating a treatment plan that is appropriate for you.
